As our workforce is shifting to primarily telecommuting over the next several weeks, you need to be aware of a new resource containing the tools that are permitted and approved for exchanging and/or storing Protected Health Information (PHI) both at UW Health and UW-Madison. These tools are expected to be used with computers and devices issued or managed by UW Health or UW-Madison. Please work with us (your departmental IT) for further advice related to departmental specific guidance with any of these tools.

Remote work options for employees supported by Department of Medicine (DOM) IT services:

VPN
If you have a DOM laptop, VPN (Virtual Private Network) is the preferred remote access solution and available for DOM supported computers. DOM VPN Request Form
DOM Citrix
- If you have a personal comptuter with internet access DOM Citrix is highly recommended as the second remote option. More information here
RDP
If your remote working needs cannot be met with VPN or DOM Citrix, Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) may be your next step to try. RDP allows one computer to connect to another computer. This request must be submitted by your departmental or center administrator. The RDP request (login with your DOM ID — not your full email address — and password). Your DOM ID is what you use to login to your DOM computer. Screen shot example below:
